But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.

GOD`S LOVE IS GREATER THAN ANY FEAR

Growing up, my dad always encouraged my brother and me to not be afraid. No matter what challenges we faced — going somewhere on our own, trying something new or standing up for what we believed in — his advice was simple: “Don`t let fear stop you.” It`s his biggest lesson to me and, over the years, it`s become more than just words. It`s a way of life. When I read 1 Peter 3:14, I`m reminded of his advice and how it connects to God`s call for us to live courageously.

The verse says, “Even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed.” Peter was writing to Christians who were facing persecution for their faith. These were people who had every reason to be afraid, yet Peter`s words encouraged them to stand firm. He reminded them that living for what is right — even when it`s hard or unpopular — is worth it because God`s blessings follow courage and obedience.

I think about my dad`s lessons when I face moments where fear tries to hold me back. Whether it`s fear of failure, rejection or the unknown, I`ve learned that courage doesn`t mean not feeling afraid. It means choosing to act despite that fear. God`s word gives us the same encouragement my dad gave me: we don`t have to be afraid because we`re not alone. God goes with us, giving us strength and peace, even in tough times.

What`s incredible about this verse is that it doesn`t promise an easy life. It acknowledges that sometimes we will face struggles, especially when we`re standing up for what is right. But it also reminds us that these moments are opportunities to grow in faith and experience God`s blessings. Fear often tries to convince us to play it safe or stay silent, but God calls us to trust him and step forward with courage.

When I reflect on my dad`s advice and God`s word, I`m reminded that fear doesn`t have to control us. Instead, we can lean on God`s promises. This truth is our foundation. No matter what comes our way, God is with us, strengthening and guiding us.

Lord, thank you for reminding us to not be afraid. Help us to stand firm, even in the face of challenges, and to trust in your promises. Thank you for the people in our lives who encourage us to live courageously. Fill our hearts with peace and confidence as we follow you. Amen
