So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today`s trouble is enough for today.

A TIMELESS CERTAINTY

Time is one of the greatest pressures we face. It is a commodity we often feel is lacking. Consequently, we fret about the future or frown with regret over the past. We rarely live in the moment. Furthermore, we forget the timelessness of God.

God is not bound by time. Unlike humans, God is tamed by neither a ticking clock nor a pocket calendar. Rather, God is present in the past, in the future and, most importantly, in the here and now.

With timelessness comes certainty. God is never caught by surprise appointments, tardy attendance or unplanned absences. Consequently, God has no past regrets to carry, no future uncertainties to fear.

Moreover, with God`s certainty comes a love and purpose that are unchanging — constant throughout the ages. Ephesians 1:4 reminds us that God “chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love.” Before creating the world, God knew us, loved us and claimed us. We have always been part of God`s perfect plan.

God`s inclusion of us in perfection should foster in us trust and a reciprocal love. Consequently, we should live fully in the present. Instead of worrying about things that have not happened or being bogged down by past mistakes, we can rest in the now, knowing that God`s grace is sufficient for today and God`s love and faithfulness meet us where we are.

After all, God`s promises are not temporary; they are eternal. Therefore, we know God will be with us throughout life, whether today, tomorrow or in eternity.

Our gracious God, thank you for your eternal, your timeless love. Amen
