Monday, April 7 Psalm:16:8-9
I keep the Lord always before me, because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also rests secure.
ROOTED IN GOD`S LOVE
The gardens here at church are my favorite outdoor sanctuaries. Let`s just say I`m “deeply rooted.” The miraculous and awesome sights of blossoms on a sugar snap pea vine, a green shaft of wheat emerging at Easter, or the okra and native plants standing strong through the summer heat — God`s creations never cease to amaze me.
Growing, tending and planning a garden is a continual source of joy for me. Through the winter I read gardening how-to books, journals and historical garden books about artists and writers transforming their personal spaces. I sketch my plans, look for new possibilities and hope for an early spring. Ahead lies planting, watering and harvesting in each new season.
Some days I work alongside others with laughter and conversation, making great progress and friendships. Always welcome are those strolling in the neighborhood or passing by who stop a moment to talk.
Many days are solitary and I find myself humming or singing pieces of hymns or liturgy. My thoughts may wander to memories of gardening with my mother and my kids. The peace and quiet offers solace on difficult days. Through it all, God is with me, at my side.
Deeply rooted in our faith, knowing that God is beside us always, we can stand strong and secure in his love and grace, now and forevermore.
Steadfast Creator, may we find strength in your presence and confidence in your promise of everlasting life. Amen
