Read Genesis 18:16-31

Abraham answered, "Let me take it upon myself to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes." (v. 27)

SPEAK, AND HE WILL LISTEN

Abraham found the courage to speak to God, to ask God for salvation for others, even though he was a mere sinner himself. Maybe it was not courage, but Abraham’s faith in God, that emboldened him to speak. He knew he could go to God with his problems and God would listen.

Neither do we need courage to speak to God. We need only faith. God is always there for us, listening to our prayers. At times, we may feel unworthy to ask for God’s help. We may feel like lowly sinners and wonder why God would listen. But God sent Jesus to die on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven. That is why we know God is listening to our prayers.

God has a plan for each and every one of us. We may not understand his plan, but we can be sure that it is born out of love for us. We need not be afraid or ashamed or unworthy to ask for God’s help. He is here for us every day, any time, all the time when we need him. Take time each day to talk to God.

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for your love. Thank you for sending Jesus to die on the cross to save us from our sins. Thank you for always being there for us. Help us to call upon you daily and to listen for your response.
