Read Matthew 28:16-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (vv 19-20)

GOD SENDS

When I began thinking about this devotion, the tune and words of a hymn came to mind:

The Lord Now Sends Us Forth
The Lord now sends us forth with hands to serve and give,
to make of all the earth a better place to live.
The angels are not sent into our world of pain
to do what we were meant to do in Jesus' name;
that falls to you and me and all who are made free.
Help us, O Lord, we pray, to do your will today.

The words remind me that God sends us to serve in his name. The words remind me that God sends us to share the story of Jesus' death and resurrection. The words remind me that God sends us to help those in our world, our communities, our churches and our neighborhoods who need a hand up to make their lives better.

We know God could have sent his angels or even done all this himself, but instead God sends us. We are his people here on earth, and his message for us is to love one another. When we love one another, we help one another.

So, go where God sends you and make a difference in our world, in our communities, in our churches and in our neighborhoods. You will be doing God's work and enriching your life as well as helping someone in need.

God is by your side and will guide you. He will show you opportunities where you can serve. You just need to listen to his call. Now is the time. God sends us out to serve and give - let's start today.
