It provides an opportunity to meet with others, share good food and enjoy a variety of programs. The group meets monthly (other than August) on the second Monday of each month 12:00 noon in the Parish Hall. Those attending each bring a covered dish to share, their own table service and make their reservations to attend enabling us to be properly set up. The programs reflect the diverse interests of the group and we strive for a variety of interesting presentations. We welcome all newcomers and visitors. Birthdays are celebrated at each meeting, hosts sign up to prepare the tables and members share the responsibilities of calling for reservations, sending cards to the ill or homebound, making program suggestions and baking the birthday cake. Choir 1/05/07 - Marlene The Parish Choir, The Parish Choir leads worship regularly, September through May. Regular rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:45 p.m. Adults who enjoy singing with others are welcome!, The Adult Handbell Choir, Reformation Ringers, is made up of adults and interested high school students. The choir usually plays once each month, September through May. Regular rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. New or experienced ringers are invited to join the bell choir. The choirs lead the congregation through a variety of musical expressions in our worship life Throughout the year, individuals from the congregation provide occasional instrumental or vocal music enhancing the musical liturgy. During summer months from June to August, individuals serve as cantors, soloists or small ensembles when no regular choirs are scheduled. Music Ministry Jan 2007 - Marlene Worship life at Reformation Lutheran Church includes music from early Lutheran traditions along with the best of more recent compositions for the church and music from around the world. Liturgies and hymns from Evangelical Lutheran Worship and With One Voice are used on Sunday mornings. Holden Evening Prayer is offered for mid-week Advent services and Evening Prayer from Evangelical Lutheran Worship during Lent. Saturday worship at 5:30pm includes holy communion within the context of a spoken liturgy, service for healing or Taize music. The parish family's worship life is lively and rich, and the congregational song is a strong and vibrant voice of praise to the Lord. A 1996 Berghaus pipe organ and Yamaha grand piano help to enhance worship music at Reformation Lutheran Church. Drama Ministry unknown - TBD The purpose of the Drama Ministry is to give a witness for Christ by means of theatre and dramatic productions. Even as Jesus used parables to teach, so we believe that a drama can be an effective instrument for giving a valuable message. A secondary, important objective is to provide an outlet for Christian Fellowship for those involved. Long time ministry, new name: This Ministry has been an off-and-on activity for several years, without the benefit of a formal title. We're pleased to use the title of "Drama Ministry," since the purposes stated above have been the motivation for our efforts. In December 2000, we presented a drama---A Party Fit For A King---for the Progressive Dinner event. The emphasis being that our Christmas celebrations might properly center on the birth of our incarnate Lord, Jesus. In spring of 2004 during the Lenten season we presented "Good News!". We envision the possibility of a year-round Drama Ministry Fellowship of people who are interested in dramatics as a means of witness. This could include play-reading sessions strictly for fun (fellowship), "On-Stage" and "Behind-The-Scenes-involvement" presentations of dramas for Christmas, during Lent, or as needed. . . . One--primarily fellowship--type of activity might be a summer production of a Dinner Theatre event. All of the above, that we might be . . . Servants of God, Guided by the Holy Spirit to Make Christ Known. Golfers for God 1/16/2006 - Tom C. Golfers for God is one of Reformation's most active small group ministries. The group meets weekly, weather permitting, for fellowship and golf. The play rotates among 10 area golf courses. According to the tradition of the group, a "toast to the miracle of cereal malt beverages" follows each golf game. Golfers for God includes a weekly offering with those funds generally directed to equipment for maintaining Reformation's lawns and the special needs of students at Oaks Indian Mission. Since the program began, more than $10,000 has been donated. The golf is usually scheduled for a weekday afternoon. If you would like to join, or have more information, please contact any member of Golfers for God: Tom Cronk, Waldo Gerards, Dick Hasselwander, Clarence Koch, Ken Lang, John Lee, Jack Metz, Jan Moyer, Paul Ryding, Craig Stallwitz, Jerry Whetstone and Ken Woodard. Thrivent Financial unknown - TBD As many of you know, it’s been a year since Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) and Lutheran Brotherhood (LB) merged into the new organization called Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Many of the programs that support the congregations and communities are still in place but some of them have changed. We still provided Confirmation gifts this year and Baptismal medallions continue to be presented to each newly baptized person at our church. You now have three required congregational coordinators who help acquire funding. They are Kathy Drake, Keith Martin, and Marsha Meili. We wanted to make sure you know how you can be involved in hands-on service and fund-raising activities and help Reformation receive its Care in Congregations money. This year, we have received matching funds for the Easter breakfast, the Pit BBQ and the Garage Sale. A total of $1500 in matching funds was available. In the future, funds will be allocated based on the size of the congregation and its level of volunteerism. On all of the projects, we need to put together a planning team consisting of a minimum of six Thrivent member households. The activity is then cleared through Thrivent as meeting the intent of service or fund-raising. The event is publicized and conducted with Thrivent support being noted. After the event, we report the net proceeds, number of volunteer hours and number of Thrivent members and non-members involved in planning or conducting the activity. If you were a member of either previous body, you are automatically a Thrivent member and we NEED your ideas and help. There are additional programs that benefit the community and the larger geographic region. For more information about the National organization, see http://www.thrivent.com.Sunday Schoolunknown - Tonya Flores Sunday School meets every Sunday during the school year, from 8:45 to 9:45 am.
