Ministries - Music
Music enriches worship with congregational song, choirs, ensembles, and soloists. We encourage singing by the whole congregation and provide avenues for all ages to offer their musical talents.

Worship at Reformation includes music from early Lutheran
traditions along with the best of more recent compositions for the church
and music from around the world. Liturgies and hymns from Evangelical
Lutheran Worship and With One Voice are used on Sunday mornings. Holden
Evening Prayer is offered for mid-week Advent services and Evening Prayer
from Evangelical Lutheran Worship during Lent. Saturday worship at 5:30pm
includes holy communion within the context of a spoken liturgy, service for
healing or Taize’ music. The parish family's worship life is lively and
rich, and the congregational song is a strong and vibrant voice of praise to
the Lord.
The Choir leads worship regularly, September through May. Regular rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:45 p.m. Adults who enjoy singing with others are welcome.
The Adult Handbell Choir, Reformation Ringers, usually plays once each month, September through May. Regular rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. New and experienced ringers are invited to join the bell choir.
A Children’s Choir for grades 1-4 meets on
Wednesdays from 5:30-6:00 p.m. to sing and ring hand chimes. This choir
is designed to help students find their singing voices, to learn the
basics of hand chime ringing, and to become more aware of the place of
music in worship. The Children’s Choir participates occasionally in
worship, the Sunday School Christmas service and other times throughout
the year.
Youth Handbell Choir is designed for students
in grades 5-8 and rehearses on Wednesdays from 6:00-6:30p.m. The choir
members learn ringing techniques and develop their music skills as they
prepare musical selections for worship. This group sometimes rings in
with the Children’s Choir.
Vocal and instrumental soloists and ensembles
often share their musical skills in worship with preludes, offerings,
and other music. During the summer months, these musicians provide
worship leadership while the choirs take a break. Instrumentalists
sometimes accompany the liturgy from With One Voice and the monthly
Saturday evening Taize’ service. A professional brass ensemble, the New
Era Brass, often participates on festivals such as Easter, Pentecost and
Reformation Sunday.
A 1996 Berghaus pipe organ, Yamaha grand piano,
Schulmerich hand bells and Malmark hand chimes help to enhance worship
music at Reformation Lutheran Church.
