Comments from Readers of Lenten Devotionals
Thank you for adding to my Lenten "time out". It was a pleasure to look
forward to the new message each day. May God bless your church and all it's members.
Thanks again, Annette Page Bellflower, California 90706
I thoroughly enjoyed the devotions, thanks for the gift! I thought it was FINE that the
devotions didn't identify the authors. I thought it was intentional, since our hope during
Lent is to focus on CHRIST, not ourselves. Thanks again for sharing...To God in Christ be
all honor and glory.
I thoroughly enjoyed the daily devotional. I would look for them first in my daily
messages. They helped me keep the proper perspective during this busy season. As the wife
of a Lutheran pastor, it's always nice to hear another perspective on the lessons.
Thank you so very much for your Lenten Devotionals. They were fantasttically helpful.
Keep up the good work
Thank you for your daily devotionals. I looked forward each day to reading them and was
always inspired with them to think about and meditate through the day. Will look forward
to next year.
I would like to thank you for these devotionals. I was able to access them almost
everyday, and thought them very worthwhile. Thanks for extending beyond your geographic
boundaries.

New E mail address. It certainly helped with my Lenten dicipline to have a devotaional
come to me as soon as I opened my email. I want to thank you all for being instruments of
God's love in this world. Blessings O'B
I would like to thank all who contributed to the Lenten Devotionals. Although I haven't
had time to read them all, I have them printed and have started reading 2 a day so I can
get them read. I'm sure it took a lot of time and effort to put this all together. My
favorite one so far is the one about "Go in Peace, LOVE, and Serve the Lord." I
had never thought about adding love to that. As the devotional said about 1 Corinthians,
Love is the greatest of hope, peace and love. And, it is soo much more meaningful when we
go in peace to serve the Lord if we do so in Love. Thank you again, Beverly

The devotionals were very much appreciated as we were unable to attend our weeky/Holy
Week services, mostly due to physical limitations. So thanks so very much!

Thank so much for the daily Lenten devotionals. The efforts of everyone involved were
greatly appreciated. This was a terrific way to start the day, and I must say that I will
miss not having one my computer each morning. God's blessings to you in your ministry!

I Thank each of you for the time and thought put into these devotionals. Each new
thought or way of looking at the scripture was like tasting a refreshing drink. I look
forward to next year. Thank you again.

Thank you so much for providing these devotionals. They have helped us throuh a hard
part in our life this spring. I have printed them out for my husband who cannot come to
the computer. He has enjoyed reading them. An inspirational way to start the day! Thank

There is no way to tell you how important the Lenten Devotions were to each day of the
Lenten Season. Little did I know when I read them each morning how very special they would
become during Holy Week. I was ill the entire week and weekend, unable to attend my
church's Easter Services, but found comfort in being a part of Reformation's service and
celebration...The Blessings of Easter to all of you and thank you so much for sharing your
time and talents...

Thank you so much for your daily devotions. I had them sent to my e-mail at work so
when I turned my computer on each morning the devotion was one of the first e-mails I
read. Sometimes I went back during the day and re-read it. I also printed each one out and
I'm sure I will re-read them again. Christ's continued blessing to you all.

Thank you so much for dedicating so much time and effort in producing your wonderful
Lenten devotionals, which I forwarded to those in our congregation who have computers. It
made Lent more meaningful to us, and was truly a work of the Lord.

Christ is Risen! He is Risen indeed! Through God's divine grace, I have been fortunate
enough to be on your Lenten devotional distribution list since since it's inception. I
have been inspired, touched, led to a closer prayer life, and more loving as a result of
these words daily. Thank you, sincerely.
Thanks for making this Lenten season more meaningful. We at The Good Shepherd Lutheran
Church are most greatful. Thanks again, Keith & Betty
Thank You for all of the thought and work that went into the Lenten devotions! I used
them as a jumping off point for my own quiet time and often took them to work to share.
I don't know who wrote the devotion for April 12, But who ever you are thank you! I was
beaten by kids in church when I was 8, and untill I read your story I thought it had never
happened to anyone else. God is at work here.

I certainly am enjoying these lenton messages. God is working through them. Thankyou.
It has helped me to focus more on our Lord. Again thanks be the God. In Christ. Pat.
I want to thank you for the Lenten devotionals. Most of them are very inspiring. I am
the secretary for our church in a rural area of Michigan. The one for today, March 27th,
was especially good and I would like to know if I can have permission to reprint it in our
church newsletter.
I have just signed up for your devotions and look forward to them. I plan to sign my
college kids up (and give them the option of unsubscribing.) However, looking at the
samples, I wonder why the Bible reference isn't given. Thank you.
This issue of The Lutheran, March 2001, had your address for the e-mail Lent devotions.
Thank you so much for such a service of providing meditations during Lent. I am grateful
to you. Thank you very, very much. I will share this find with others.
i really appreciate your web site. I am a sunday school teacher at a very small
lutheran church in central pennsylvania, and it is really nice to have resources to draw
from. thank you very much.
Matt Ernst -- 01/12/01 -- 05:30:31
I enjoyed reading the sample devotionals and will recommend them to our congregation.
One suggestion: they need to be edited. In the samples, there are several misspellings
and/or typos.
jack way -- 05/01/00 -- 06:46:45
I shared these often with others during Lent and used them twice as devotions to begin
meetings. Bless you for this service to others. Intern Jack Way, Dekorra Lutheran Church,

Thank you so much for the great devotional reading. I looked forward to opening and
reading every one of them. You all did a great job and I hope it enriched Lent for you as
much as it did for us! Pastor Karen Jewell, St. Andrew's Lutheran in Oshkosh WI

dmaschoff e mail address is above ... bad initial send!
-- 04/24/00 -- 20:21:17
would like to see the e mail going forward throughout the year ... not just lent ... is
there another source (lutheran that is)?
Suzi Brant -- 04/24/00 -- 09:45:50
Thank You So much for your Lenten Devotionals. A friend who attends Emmaus Lutheran in
Orange City, Fl told me about your site, I signed up! I looked forward to your messages
and forwarded two messages that fit needs others had expressed. Thanks again!

Hi and thank you so much for your Lenten Devotionals. My best friend who lives in
Denver had forwarded one devotional one day and I signed up! Thanks again!
I just want to express my thanks for your lenten devotionals. I start my work day for
some time now with a brief devotional and find that the day keeps me in better touch with
my christian heritage and life of faith. Keep up the good work!
Your daily devotions were the first e-mail I read each morning as I arrived at my desk
at Martin Luther Home Society in Lincoln, Nebraska. They were a wonderful enhancement to
my practice of having a short prayer time each morning as I begin my day!
Thank you to Reformation Lutheran Church for offering your Lenten devotions to those of
us in other parts of the country. And special thanks to all those who contributed the
Lenten devotions. I have heard from many from our congregation (Lutheran Church of the
Ascension, Northfield, IL) who have commented on how much they looked forward to their
morning mail. And to you, Mark, I sense you are far more than "simply the piano
player!" In His service, Pam Hultgren Administrator Lutheran Church of the Ascension,
Northfield, IL
Thank you for your Lenten and Easter devotionals. They were very inspiring! (I am a
Stephen Ministry leader at St. John Lutheran in Roanoke, Virginia.)
Thank very much for the Lenten devotionals. It's a wonderful idea. Sometimes I'm in a
hurry to get through my e-mail, but I always took the time to carefully read each day's
message. I'm a member of St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in St. Louis. Your pastor
led a retreat for us early this year. We took his message to heart and are moving forward
in our transformational process. God bless!
Thank you so much for providing a guiding message each day in Lent. It helped guide us
throught this period of study, meditation and celebrate the victory over death. Thank You
Thank you for the devotionals, I enjoyed them very much. We can get so busy with our
lives, that we need a little reminder to slow down, and spend a little time in prayer each
day. Your devotional e-mails did that for me. I will miss them now. Thanks again.
John Duchon -- 04/23/00 -- 05:49:20
Thank you for the devotionals. I am Vice-president of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, E.
Hampton, CT. We are without a pastor. I e-mailed all your devotionals to memebers of the
church, friends, and family who had e-mail. They provided a focus in a hectic world. Yours
in Christ, John
