Read Luke 6:27-36

“Do unto others as you would have them do to you.”

A SERVING OF FORGIVENESS

It isn’t always easy to love your neighbor or to do good for those who treat you badly. It is hard to turn the other cheek when your heart is hurt by vicious and bruising words.

A few years ago, some very vicious lies were told about me by someone I loved dearly. Some people who heard the gossip believed it, and I lost some friends. I didn’t know how to fight back other than by saying that the words had no truth to them. I didn’t have any defense. My first thoughts were to talk to my pastor and my family.

My heart was broken, and I felt so rejected. I cried. I was angry. I felt I couldn’t handle it. Finally, I turned to the Lord. I asked him to give me patience and kindness for those who had wronged me and to forgive them.

O God, thank you for removing the hatred and anger from my soul and for giving me your love and peace. Please bring us to your table for forgiveness. Thank you for all the blessings and for renewing our spirits. Amen.
