To me, this is a strong message. As human beings, we tend to love those who love us more than we love those who hate us. That is not what God wants us to do.
I am a junior in high school. I’ve found that it is hard to love your enemies. There are a lot of people at school who do not get along. There are other pupils that I do not get along with. But each night I pray for them, that they will change their ways and become nicer to me and others. I also hope they pray that I can get along with them, too.
By doing this, I am showing love for my enemies. By doing this, I am making a place at the Lord’s table for me and hopefully for those I’m praying for.
A lot of people out there would agree with me that it is hard trying to get along with others around you, even in places other than school. This is why I hope all of you reading this will start or continue to pray for your enemies and those who persecute you. Every one of us has a place at the Lord’s table.
Dear Lord, please help us to follow your words and commandments. Help us to pray for those around us, whether they are friend or foe. Please give us the strength to especially pray for those who persecute us, because they need your love as much as anyone. We all want to take our places alongside you at the Great Feast. We pray in your holy name. Amen.
