Read Proverbs 13

“The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked goes out.” (v. 9)

FINDING WHAT IS RIGHT

People do many things in the name of righteousness - sometimes hurtful things. Frequently the hurt comes from not respecting that there can be opposing viewpoints. Is there always just one right answer or way to act, especially in these times of twilight?

The argument can be made that it’s not always easy to determine what is right. Jesus came to our world to help light the way to righteousness by teaching us to do for others as we would have them do for us. Through living in Jesus’ light and respecting where others are in their own lives, we have the opportunity to teach his righteousness by how we live.

This verse reminds us that our goodness will beget more goodness. The challenge for all of us is determining the right thing to do or the right way to live. It is a question we have the privilege of responding to every day. Most importantly, we have the privilege of sharing Jesus’ love and the gift of his sacrifice every day.

Dear Lord, help me to walk in your Light today and to share your love righteously. Amen
