For God
so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not
perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to
condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
The story of Nicodemus, from which the above text is quoted, is one
that clearly shows the wonder of Gods own power. Reading it I feel so grateful for
the promises that God keeps. The love God feels for the world is an amazing thing,
stronger than any love we are capable of understanding.
As we hurry from one commitment to the next, meeting all the obstacles
in our way, it seems we dont take time to stop and think of what we put ourselves
through. Between rush hour traffic on Kellogg, or that meeting we are late for, or even
the after-school commitments from which we must gather our children, does anyone ever
really stop to think about how unnecessary it all is? In the end, the result is the same.
God loves the world, and with Gods love comes the assurance that in the end we will
all be together in Heaven.
For me, the wonder of everything outside my comfort zone is amazing.
This is my last year living in Wichita with my parents, and I have done a lot of thinking.
Whatever obstacles I may face in the future, I know God is with me.
This June I will be leaving for Lackland Air Force Base to begin my
training for the military. Many thoughts of fear and anticipation fill my head. The one
thing that gives me comfort is the thought that Jesus came into the world "so that
everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life." In spite
of the hectic schedules we all face, let us never forget that Gods love is foremost
in importance and that his promises to us will always be kept through his Son, Jesus
Christ.
Dear Lord, thank you for sending your Son into the world to save
us from our sin. As we come and go, let us always be mindful of the amount of love you
have given freely to the world. Give us the strength to share the good news of your love
and salvation with others.
