And
remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
March 21, 1997. Driving in the country. Suddenly black clouds
rolled over me. It was a dark place. I heard voices.
The first voice I recognized was my husbands. He asked if I was
all right. He said someone was going for help. Darkness. I became aware of someone sliding
a board under me and putting a collar around my neck. A voice said, "Wait! Her seat
belt is still fastened." Darkness. Then another voice saying, "Quick, give me
the pan and towels. Shes awfully nauseated." Darkness. I begged Jesus to hold
my hand and not let go. Darkness.
A strange sound woke me. I looked up and saw the doctor removing his
gloves and saying, "Ive done all I can do for her. Now Im going to
pray." A nephew knelt beside my bed and prayed. A person standing to my left said,
"Im praying." Darkness.
We were air-lifted to Wesley Medical Center. Darkness. Then I seemed to
be standing across a big room watching the EMS roll me down the hall. I screamed!
Dont touch it! Nurse angels came and cared for me.
In my thoughts, I hummed Sunday School songs. A voice I heard in the
darkness said, "I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Remember the footprints in the sand? God carried me when I
couldnt carry myself. I couldnt even stand up. I was totally helpless.
My Reformation family prayed for me, as did other friends and
relatives. A wheel chair, walker, and cane eventually became my close companions.
As a child, I learned that God would always be with me. He has healed
me and brought me once again to say, "Here I Stand!"
Gracious Heavenly Father, we give praise, honor, and glory to
your precious name. We appreciate the blessings you so abundantly provide. Accept our
thanks, and keep us ever close to you. In Jesus name.
