"Then Jesus took
the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so
also the fish, as much as they wanted."
Faith ... its what comes to my mind when I read the story of
Jesus feeding the crowd of five thousand.
Large crowds gathered wherever Jesus was found, and I know the
disciples witnessed many spectacular miracles before this event. Yet they still had
questions about where they could possibly find enough food to feed this many people.
Just as the disciples had questions about how they would cope with this
difficult situation, I have had my own doubts and questions at times in my life. But Jesus
tells us he will always be with us if we believe, and just as he provided for the
disciples and the five thousand, he provides for us.
I have seen some of Gods miracles in my short lifetime. They
might not be feeding a large crowd with two fish and five loaves of bread, or changing
water into wine, but they are miracles just the same. Each of us is one of Gods
greatest miracles. We are here to tell others of Jesus love for all of us and how he
died on the cross to wash away our sins.
Lent is a time when we can and should reflect on our own faith. This is
the time when we can and should tell others the glorious story of how Jesus died on the
cross and how he rose again, just because he loved us. For this is the time when we can
and should know that Jesus is always with us and will never let us down as long as we have
faith.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father. May the love of Jesus work in our hearts
this Lenten season and guide us to show others all that Jesus means to us. Amen.
