Luke 23: 46

Thy Will Be Done

"Jesus called out with a loud voice, ‘Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.’ When he had said this, he breathed his last."

Most of our days are spent "managing." Managing families, work, and activities. We maintain that God is central in our lives, but when we are honest, we admit that God catches us "on the run."

We argue that we "pray without ceasing," because when do we cease all other activities to pray?

And when we pray, how do we pray? Usually quickly, superficially, weakly. Certainly there are times when our prayers are fervent, fervent because we are asking for something. Beseeching ... begging God to do our will.

We can live as Jesus died. Each day we can commend our spirit to God, through our prayers. We can pray, "Thy will be done," and mean it. We can pray quietly, allowing God to work through us. We can pray intentionally, allowing God to transform our hearts.

Prayer: Precious Lord, open our hearts and minds and souls to your will and your transforming power. Into your hands we commend our lives and spirits. Amen
