Reformation Lutheran 1997 Lenten Devotional - Number 42
March 25, 1997. Today's Bible verse is 1 Peter 4: 7-11
Holy Week
"The end of all things is near."( 1 Peter
4:7) How often do we think of this fact? Too often we must face
an illness or losing someone dear to us before we focus on eternity.
We realize then our possessions and status will not pass from
this life to the next, but love remains.
Walking with God daily is all that matters in this
life. When we walk with God, we reflect His goodness through
love (most importantly) and through sharing of ourselves with
others. As Peter writes, we each have a gift to share and no
one was over looked by God in this area.
Start spreading God's love today in the way you treat
your family and friends. Decide on something you can do for others
to share your gift. If you need help finding something you do
well, ask friends and family what they think you can share. Actively
pursue this where you are today... at home, school, work, church
or neighborhoods. We all can make a difference for God if we
let Him use us.
Prayer: Heavenly Father.
Because you first loved us, forgive us when we fail to be loving.
Because Jesus showed us how to serve, forgive us when we choose
not to. Please renew us in our daily walk with You, giving us
strength to reach out to others with love and sharing the gifts
You have provided us. We ask this in Your name. Amen.
