Reformation Lutheran 1997 Lenten Devotional - Number 13
February 24, 1997. Today's Bible verse is Hebrews 11: 1-12
True Faith
"Faith is being sure of what we hope for and
certain of what we do not see." Today many people have trouble
having true faith. It is important, though, that people maintain
a strong faith in God. That is the only way we can really understand
the universe and be rewarded.
Ancient people were commended for their faith. Abel
gave God a better sacrifice than Cain. God appreciated this,
and rewarded Abel. Noah had faith enough to build the Ark, and
for that, his family was saved. Sarah had faith and was rewarded
with a child. There are many other examples given of great faith
and rewards.
God gave us these examples so we could learn from
them. No matter what is happening in our lives, we must maintain
our faith. That is how we will be saved in the end.
Prayer: Dear
God, please help us to trust you and have faith in you always.
That no matter what our present circumstances we will believe
and be faithful. Amen.
