Reformation Lutheran 1997 Lenten Devotional - Number 8
February 19, 1997. Today's Bible verse is Psalm 30
Praises to God: Thankfulness
So I will not be silent; I will sing praise to you.
Lord, you are my God; I will give you thanks forever. (v12)
There are so many things to be thankful for. First
and foremost, you sent Your Son who suffered and died for us so
that we might have eternal life. You forgive us all our sins
and shortcomings, our omissions and our commissions, and deliberate
misbehaviors an all the other things that we do wrong. All we
need do is to be truly sorry for them and ask for your forgiveness.
For this we are very thankful, Lord.
We thank you Lord for a wonderful caring church family.
Thank you for all the caring people; the Parish Nurse Program,
the Stephen Ministry Program, the LOGOS program for our children
and young people, the Boy Scouts program, the Best Time of Life
(BTOL) program for the senior members, and also for all the loving
and helpful members of this congregation.
Thank you, Lord, for all the volunteers: the choir,
the cantors, the church council, the many committee members, and
chair persons, the Bible Study leaders, the Circle leaders and
member, the ushers, the tellers, the acolytes, the lectors, the
communion assistants, the Youth Leaders, the Sunday School Teachers,
the people who scoop the snow in the winter and mow the grass
in summer, and all others who make our church service and our
activities at church so very meaningful and pleasant.
We thank you Lord for a dedicated and hard working
staff. We thank you Lord for such a wonderful group of young
people who love their church and one another.
For all of these things we are very grateful, Lord,
and we will give you thanks forever.
Prayer: God of
all goodness, help us to always be grateful for all your blessings,
in Jesus name. Amen.
