Fellowship - Women of Reformation
WOMEN OF REFORMATION works in partnership with Women of the ELCA (WELCA),
a church-wide ministry that builds on a strong history of women’s Bible
study, service, and fellowship. WOMEN OF REFORMATION works with the
larger church as one congregational unit among many across the nation
committed to faith in action, affirmation of gifts, and mutual support.
At Reformation, we find great support and affirmation within the context
of Circles, small groups that meet monthly for Bible study, fellowship,
and service. Gatherings are centered on Bible studies, which provide
opportunity for sharing insight and inspiration. Circles also provide
the glue for many of our WOMEN OF REFORMATION ministry projects. All
women, members and visitors alike, are invited to attend any circle
meeting. Circle schedules are listed below:
- Dorcas Circle meets at 1:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month
(except August). Meetings are held at the homes of members.
- Mary Circle meets at 9:30 a.m. on the fourth Monday of each month
during the school year. Meetings are held at the church. Babysitting
is provided.
- Rebecca Circle meets at 10:00 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month.
Meetings are held at the church.
But WELCA at Reformation is more than just Circles. Throughout the year, WOR sponsors many initiatives designed to provide assistance to those in need
including collections of food and clothing, monthly visits to a
neighborhood nursing home, and financial support for seminarians. A
group within the group,
Blanket Makers. creates blankets for students at Oaks Indian
Center and lap robes for residents of area nursing homes. Blanket Makers
also make a quilt each year for auction to benefit Camp Tomah Shinga.
Another dedicated group is the Prayer Shawl Ministry. These
talented knitters create prayer shawls to comfort those who need to know
others are praying for them. For more information about any of these
ministries or circles, contact the church office.
