Stained Glass Images
There are eight stained glass images in the church, two large pieces
and six smaller pieces. The pieces were designed and made by Hopcroft Stained Glass
Studios of Kansas City, Missouri. The two larger pieces are approximately 56" by
56" in size with the 6 smaller pieces measuring 20" by 20". Just above the
main entrance leading into the narthex is the first large piece, a contemporary
interpretation of Luther's Rose. The remaining stained glass
images are on the front wall of the sanctuary with three small pieces arranged in order on
each side of the large piece. The second large piece is the Px with the Greek letters
alpha and omega representing Jesus Christ, the Alpha and Omega. The six smaller pieces of
stained glass represent the following six elements.
- Holy Baptism (the descending dove)
- The Word of God (an open Bible)
- Holy Communion (grapes and wheat, which represent the wine and
bread)
- The Father (the hand of God, the Creator)
- The Son (a sacrificial lamb)
- The Holy Spirit (the Pentecostal seven flames)
Some of the stained glass panes that are colored white are actually
"frosted." This subtle enhancement allows the features to stand out even at
night in darkness. This results in some beautiful images, day or night.
